Redding, CA November 10, 2021 – Shasta Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, received an “A” grade in the Fall 2021 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade, a national distinction recognizing Shasta Regional Medical Center’s achievements in protecting patients from errors, injuries, accidents and infections.
Shasta Regional Medical Center is the only hospital in the area to be awarded the Grade ‘A’ of all the hospitals rated in the North State.
“An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a tremendous achievement, of which this community should be extremely proud,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “I thank the leadership and workforce of Shasta Regional Medical Center for its commitment to prioritizing patients and their safety, especially during these trying times.”
The Leapfrog Group, an independent national watchdog organization, assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D,” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over thirty national performance measures reflecting errors, injuries, accidents and infections, as well as systems hospitals have in place to prevent harm.
“Now more than ever, we are incredibly proud for being recognized at this level. Shasta Regional Medical Center is honored to have earned top ratings for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, demonstrating our commitment to providing the highest level of quality and excellence for our patients”, stated Casey Fatch, CEO, at Shasta Regional Medical Center.
“At Shasta Regional Medical Center we continuously strive to maintain the highest standards for patient safety”, said Mark Mitchelson, Chief Nursing Officer at Shasta Regional Medical Center. “We are honored to receive the Grade of ‘A’ this fall from The Leapfrog Group. This distinction is a direct result of our staff’s commitment to delivering top quality care to keep patients save. This validates the continuous effort and dedication of our exemplary team of health care professionals who provide outstanding care every day to our patients”.
This year, Shasta Regional Medical Center also earned a Grade “A” from the Lown Institute Hospital Index ranking for Social Responsibility, as a top hospital in the state. The Social Responsibility ranking is based on 54 metrics across three main categories: equity, value, and outcomes.
